Come what may...

.....And love it!

Elder Wurthlin's talk during general conference really struck home with me. He talked about being optimistic and laughing during life's little trials. I, unfortunately, do not always have that kind of an attitude and frequently slide into my 'one of those days' mentality. But Elder Wurthlin's mother's advice to 'take what may and love it' inspired me to do better.

So of course we had a few 'come what may' type of experiences this week:

1-My car's automatic lock system has been acting up and on monday it freaked out and locked Ryan and Eden in the car while I was dropping something off at a friend's house. After coming back to the house and getting the spare clicker, whose batteries were dead, and going to the store and buying new batteries, and the car still refusing to unlock, we called the police and a very nice policeman came and got it open. It was only about 60 degrees outside thankfully, but after 30 minutes it was starting to get toasty inside with black leather interior. But I tried to laugh and keep positive and figuratively 'love it'!

2-Today we woke up with snow! lots of it! I know it's cold where most of you are too, and so this will come as no surprise, but we have between 6 and 8 inches of the white stuff on the ground. grrr. I am not a snow person. But as you can see from the above pictures, Brent earned some daddy points and brought a little winter inside for the girls to play in. They definitely 'loved it'! and I loved having a half an hour with the girls completely entertained:)

The annual exodus to the Zoo

The gathering of all the cousins and heading to Hogle Zoo in the fall is becoming quite the tradition. The third year was definitley a success, despite our, also traditional, adventure on the way to and from the zoo. Why do they always seem to close the freeway ramps we need?! But when we did finally make it there a good time was had by all. The weather was perfect- low 70s, and there weren't very many people there, and all of the animals were out and active. I didn't take a ton of photos because I was pushing the stroller, taking breaks to nurse the baby, and generally two steps behind everyone. But that's ok, the girls had fun running with the cousins and maren and my mom also helped push the stroller up the massive hill leading to the exit:)

Highlights included: the elephant show, one is pregnant, has been for a year, and still has a full 10 months left. You better believe I was feeling lucky. The penguins who were out waddling but didn't want to swim, the lions pacing around, the momma gorilla who took a good look at us through the glass, and of course the conservation carousel and the train.

I'm so glad that my mom, maren and her kids were able to come down for our annual fall excertion, next on the agenda: the auntie's retreat in November!

I know, I know, where in the world have I been?! Actually I have been quite active on the blogging scene, just invisibly: almost all of my interent time I'm nursing Ryan so I'm one handed, not very conducive to blogging or leaving comments:) I do want to do better, we'll see how it goes. But be rest assured your blogs are being stalked by a one handed mommy.

About the pictures below: I had the last minute brain storm to have these pictures taken for Brent's birthday, he's been asking for some updated pictures for his office. So I called one of my violin student's moms who I've seen at recitals taking great pictures with a professional looking camera. She graciously came over before her daughter's lesson and put some sheets up against our fence on the side of the house and had a mini photo shoot. It worked out great because I was helping them try out some new bows, proving the barter system is alive and well:)

Brent loved his pictures, I framed them and decorated the frame with some extra scrapbook touches, and I got professional looking pictures for the cost of development and making a CD at Walmart!
