So we're back to square one, I needed a break after those tacky hearts:) Good news everyone: 4 days until I am officially enter the second trimester. more good news: we finally bought that second car for brent to drive to work. best news of all: the girls are sleeping. And lastly a question: what the heck should I make for dinner?

Over the river and through the Snow

This weekend we made a last minute trip to Rexburg for a much needed weekend away. Brent has been swamped and working crazy hours at work, I'm starting to feel a little better (second trimester is on the horizon), and we needed to bring my Dad's subaru that we'd been borrowing back home. Thanks to our portable DVD player the girls were wonderful on the drive up and so far we've had a great time. Yesterday morning Brent and I were able to attend a session at the newly dedicated Rexburg Temple. Thank you thank you thank you Rosemary, you are wonderful for watching our girls, who didn't get very much sleep the night before and were crankier than I've ever seen them. Afterward Brent and I went to Papa Kelsey's and had some of their absolutely delicious, fattening to the extreme, melty cheese subs. I've been really craving them! But I must say that although the food was just like I remember, the interior really needs to be remodeled. Anyway, we've had a great time, in fact Brent's even trying to fix up and old car so we're all happy:) The only bummer is that my sister Maren is really sick. fI hope she gets feeling better soon.

My big Helper

Laura is my silverware unloader. She loves to put everything into the right spot, although she also thinks it's funny to put everything in the wrong spot first:) but i still like having a helper.

To Do Lists

Today's to-do list:

-make beds

-get girls ready for the day

-get out maternity clothes

-fold two loads of laundry

-go to grocery store for milk and bread

-check bank accounts online

-make some primary phone calls

-take the girls outside for a walk(avoiding swiper the fox)

-make crockpot lasagna

-teach violin lessons

-have dinner

-play with girls and read stories

-Bedtime for the ladies

-lay in bed sick

Happy Valentine's Day!

So my sweet husband loves to do things for holidays. For him any special day is a great reason to go out to dinner, buy me gifts, watch movies, and generally celebrate being alive. Which is awesome, it's one of the things I love about him, but for some reason I really didn't want to plan anything for Valentine's this year. Mostly because I've only been running on about 70% normal capacity, although I'm not complaining-I really haven't been that sick, but still. So we had a date last week and called it good. Well I'm really glad we didn't make big plans because last night Laura woke in the middle of the night with the stomach flu. bah. and she passed on a touch of it to me. So we spent the morning in our pajamas watching Dora the Explorer and reading Mansfield Park. Brent took half the day off(well it is a holiday:) and took care of us. Plus he even brought me home roses. We're all feeling better this evening and had delicious ABC Manderin take-out (totally recommend the strawberry chicken, sounds weird but it s delicious). Other highlights of the day included taking a long nap, hanging up hearts from grandma martha in the window, and talking about what we love about each member of our family. Plus Brent tells me I have another present hidden somewhere in the house:) he sure does know how to make me smile!

Story time with Mommy

I love to read stories with the girls. I have to say it's one of my favorite things about being a SAHM is being able to read them at least twice a day, before naps and bedtime. Also being pregnant it's wonderful being able to lay down and still interact with them in a meaningful way. Some of our favorite books right now are: any Curious George books, anything to do with Princesses, although I try to keep that in moderation, and the Bear Snores on collection. We also love the Bernstein Bears. On my own I just finished rereading the 'Dealing with Dragons' series by Patricia C. Wrede and am planning on starting Mansfield Park by Jane Austen in the next couple of days.

Hardware Ranch

On Saturday we took a little family outing and headed up to Logan's Hardware Ranch. It's something Brent's heard about since we moved here so we indulged in the hour and a half drive it took us to get there(thank heavens for portable DVD players:) It was a lot different than what I expected, I hadn't realized that the elk herd was actually wild elk that catch and feed to keep them away from populated areas. That day there were about 600 in the few acres they have partially fenced off. Not only that but some brilliant etrepeneur came up with the idea to charge $5 a person to ride on a horse drawn sleigh through the middle for about 15 minutes. The driver told us a little about the project and we really were close to the elk. The girls loved it. Laura's favorite part were the big horsies pulling the sleigh, which she claimed must be a mommy and a daddy horse. Eden wanted to be held the whole time, but they were very good the whole time. It was a really warm day and we enjoyed being outside in the fresh air and mountains. On the way home we came across a recent accident involving a jeep and some deer up the side of the hill. There were people stopped to help, no one was seriously hurt, but no one had cell reception so we volunteered to finish driving out of the canyon and call 911. We were really glad to help, a few minutes after calling we were passed by police cars and ambulances on their way into the canyon. Anyway, it was a good little family vacation. Lots of quality time and memories. I highly recommend visiting the elk to anyone living in the area.

So I can't keep a secret. I know you're not supposed to tell anyone until you're at least starting the second trimester, but oh well, everyone I talk to already knows! Yes, number 3 is on the way. I think with number one you say, congratulations! number two you say, wow, a sibling! and number three you say, good luck! We're excited and of course nervous about being outnumbered, but at least this time around we know more of what to expect. The due date is September 9th, that puts me 9 weeks along, and you're all welcome to come visit me in my basement the whole hot summer long. The timing's not too close, Laura will be 4, Eden will be 2 1/2, so they'll be friends right?! I've already accepted that life will just be crazy and I'm ok with that. I think. Anyway, I've been really lucky to have only been really sick for a few weeks and that might have been the flu. I'm always starving, and cold. Poor Brent's the one in shorts while I'm sleeping in flannel and 10 blankets. We've already been to our first Dr. appointment, but the ultrasounds really aren't anything interesting so we'll wait on those. The place we're going has ultrasounds at every visit so there will be plenty to post. So the next big question is will the Tew clan finally have a boy or are we going to add granddaugher #8?
