One my favorite past times in the evening after the kids are finally in bed and Brent is studying is to blog-hop. I love going and getting creative ideas, looking at what my friends are doing, and basically relaxing. Summer is officially here: the strawbies are on! I'm quite proud of my little bushes, we're picking a half a bucket every day. yum! I need more strawberry recipes...

And my roses are blooming too! The girls and I have been planting banana peels around the bases to feed the bushes.















We put fence slats in our fence. Not as great as having a tall privacy fence, but it already has made a huge difference.

Saturday June 6th

Yesterday we went down to Salt Lake and went to the first of many baptisms of cousins and friends. Makayla's baptism was wonderful, but she did have get to repeat the whole thing three times because her big toe kept floating up. The ironic thing is that her mom, and both of her grandmas both were baptised three times each also!

Scott also gave her a beautiful confirmation blessing and we enjoyed visiting with all the family afterwards at the Whetsels.


After we got home we relaxed in the backyard and pulled out the marshmallows and fired up the charcoal grill. We even invited some neighbors over and had an impromptu little party. I love our neighborhood, it's like a little oasis and we have so many friends here.

When no one was looking Ryan found Eden's strawberry bucket. When Brent looked over he was shoving as many as he could into his little mouth! One happy baby, and hopefully no allergic reactions!

"Teacher Brittney, I will miss you!"

I don't think Laura quite understands that she's not going back to her preschool anymore. She keeps asking me if we can go visit Teacher Brittney and her kids. It really was a great preschool, and Laura learned so much. At the graduation they sang songs and danced for us. Laura's favorites: 'This is my school family!' and 'Five little turkeys' (Laura is a turkey, thus the feathers). But it was so windy the balloon arrangement blew away and the kids could hardly keep their costumes on. Also T. Brittney spotlighted each of the kids and gave them a scrapbook of pictures from the year. Apparently Laura is the teacher's helper, helps keep T. Brittney on track, is friends with everyone, and when she grows up she wants to be a 'cave-tester'. When T. Brittney asked her what a cave tester was, Laura said, 'Um.. someone who tests caves!' It was pretty funny, Brent was so proud.

Memorial Day Weekend



Grandpa giving the girls 'ponyrides' on his knee, just like when I was a little girl. Their favorite was 'This is the way the ladies ride...'. My mom teaching Laura how to embroider, or sewing, as Laura says. Laura finished her initials and a flower before we left.

Before we went Brent promised Laura that he would take her up onto a real volcano. So one morning they went and climbed the Butte. Laura ran the whole way up, racing the bus load of college students who got there the same time.

Also while we were there Brent and I went with Rosemary, Lexi and Lesha to the Bar-J wranglers in Jackson. We love going up there and hearing the incredible fiddling and western music. Thanks Mom for babysitting our little ones so we could go!

Memorial Day Weekend part 2

Tautphaus Park Zoo, the perfect little zoo for an afternoon. All the cousins, lots of animals, nice weather, only one pregnant uncomfortable Aunt, and one huge tortoise. Enough said.

Memorial Day weekend part 3

President Monson has said that we should teach our children about the holy temples and make it the spiritual goal of our families. He also said that when they touch the temple it will touch them.
So we did. On Sunday morning, despite the wind and the impending rain we ventured up the hill and walked around the Rexburg Temple grounds.

It's hard to say if the girls understood any of what we were trying to tell them. Eden was worried about the wind and Laura wanted to jump all over the stone ledges, but maybe just a little made it through. I guess that's the hope of so much of what we do as parents. But it did touch me to see my children's little hands against the white sparkling walls.

'Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? He that hath clean hands and a pure heart.'
